For the 2023-2024 academic year, 108 disciplines were assigned to the department.
As of October 1, 2023, the department offered specialist training in 10 full-time programs, including six undergraduate programs, three master's degree tracks, and one doctoral program. The total number of students was 371, comprising 325 undergraduate students, 38 master's students, and 8 doctoral candidates.
The department of Biology and Ecology was responsible for 108 disciplines, for which teaching staff developed working curricula (UMKD). These included syllabi, methodological guidelines, and recommendations for various student activities. The quality of these materials complies with the requirements of the State Educational Standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan (GOSO RK). The UMKD are distinguished by their content and inclusion of methodological developments and recommendations for different student activities (lecture courses, seminar plans, assignments for independent work (SRS) and guided independent work (SRSP), methodological instructions for their implementation, information on grade distribution, knowledge control materials, and lists of core and supplementary literature). The content of SRS and SRSP aligns with principles of practical application and consideration of students' needs and interests.
The UMKD readiness for the 1st semester was 100%, and for the 2nd semester, 100%.
According to the schedule of mutual class visits among the teaching staff (PPS) of the department for the 2023-2024 academic year, 43 classes were observed.
All classes were conducted at a sufficiently high methodological level, with their content aligned with standard and working curricula. A more detailed analysis is provided in the journal of mutual visits and open classes.
The Department of Biology and Ecology developed a plan for scientific and methodological seminars addressing key areas in ecology, biology, life safety, and environmental protection, examining modern methodological aspects of teaching. Throughout the reporting period, educational and scientific-methodological seminars were systematically held, addressing current issues related to the educational and scientific process and the organization of teaching and methodological work.
According to the plan of scientific and methodological seminars for the 2023-2024 academic year, the following seminars were organized and conducted:
The main objectives of the seminars are:
- Systematic collective discussion of new results and plans, as well as relevant methodological developments prepared by the department's teaching staff.
- Familiarization with new results in the fields of ecology and biology obtained in other scientific organizations and their qualified discussion.
- Enhancing the scientific potential of young researchers through discussion of their research and that of other scientists.
Seminar format:
- Frequency: At least once per quarter.
- Location: Department, Room 417, Room 418.
- Presentation duration: No more than 40 minutes; discussion time is not regulated.
- Materials prepared: Presentation and printed copies of the report.
