VII Republican Student Subject Olympiad

"PostHumanum: cultural studies of the future"

On April 30, 2025, the II stage of the XVII Republican Student subject Olympiad "PostHumanum: cultural studies of the future" is being held among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the educational program 6B03101 – Cultural Studies at the NJSC "Toraighyrov University".

The purpose of the Olympiad: support for talented students, disclosure and stimulation of their creative abilities, educational, cognitive and research activities, assistance in the formation of students' intellectual potential, stimulating interest in scientific activities.

Working languages of the Olympiad: Kazakh, Russian, English

PARTICIPATION

Teams of students (no more than 3 students per team) from higher education institutions that are winners of the first stage of the intra-university rounds of the Olympiad are invited to participate in the second stage of the Republican Student Subject Olympiad. The team must be accompanied by a supervisor.

To participate in the Olympiad, it is necessary to send the following scanned documents to the NJSC Toraighyrov University by e-mail salimova_raigul@mail.ru by April 25, 2025:

1.    Application for participation;

2.    A letter signed by the rector (vice-rector) on the results of the first stage of the Olympiad, drawn up in a protocol.

GENERAL REGULATIONS OF THE REPUBLICAN OLYMPIADS

The Republican Olympiad is held in 2 stages:

1) the first stage is intra-university;

2) the second stage is in basic universities;

Students of higher educational institutions in priority areas of training and specialties of higher education can participate in the first stage of the Olympiad.

The rector (vice-rector) of the university organizes competition commissions for the relevant sections of the competition, including representatives of leading scientific organizations, industrial enterprises, and local authorities.

Based on the results of the first stage of the Olympiad (intra-university), the university's competition commission, approved by the order of the rector (vice-rector), selects and sends the best university students to basic universities on a competitive basis to participate in the second stage of the competition.

When nominating students to participate in the II stage of the Republican Olympiad, the following documents are sent from the higher educational institution to the basic university: a letter signed by the rector (vice-rector) on the results of the first stage of the Olympiad, which is drawn up by the protocol

All expenses related to participation in the II stage of the Republican Student Subject Olympiad (arrival, departure, meals, accommodation) are carried out at the expense of the sending party.

The subject Olympiad includes the following stages:

Stage 1. "Business card": representing the team (name, motto, captain). The time limit is 3-5 minutes.

Stage 2. "Culture and AI: who shapes whom?" (consists of tasks in the case study format). The time limit is 10-15 minutes (the task will be presented by the organizers during the Olympiad).

Stage 3. The captain's competition. Tasks for knowledge of the following theories and concepts on information society culture, artificial intelligence and cross-culture. (the list of topics is provided below). The time limit is 5-10 minutes.

1 The main ideas of the founders of posthumanism.

2 The theory of hyperreality (Jean Baudrillard).

3 Artificial intelligence as a phenomenon of modern culture (D. McCarthy, A. Turing).

4 Theory of the Information Society (E. Toffler).

5 E. Hirsch's theory of cultural literacy.

6 Theory of communicative action by Yu. Habermas.

7 The semiotic concept of Yu. M. Lotman.

Stage 4. The last stage is presented in the "Homework" format and is a mini-project/presentation on the topic "Cultural modernization and artificial intelligence".

The time limit is 10-15 minutes.

                                            The International Scientific and Practical Conference

                                            «Sustainable development in contemporary research»

                                                                      May 16, 2025

Venue: «Toraighyrov University» NJSC, Pavlodar, 64 Lomov str., MEB.

Conference format: offline, online.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference «Sustainable development in contemporary research» is held within the framework of the state budget research project AP19676924 «Development of technology and promotion of ecological branding of the industrial complex of the region». The conference is aimed at constructive discussion of key problems of sustainable innovation-technological, socio-economic and spiritual-humanitarian development, strategies and mechanisms of international cooperation, integration processes taking place in the modern world, presentation of results and prospects in the field of innovation-technological, international socio-economic, scientific and cultural cooperation.

As part of the conference, breakout sessions will be held among the following categories of attendees:

-       college students;

-       university students.

Based on the results of the breakout sessions, the winners will be selected; they will be awarded diplomas, their scientific supervisors – letters of gratitude.

ATTENTION! No more than 2 (two) speakers are allowed to make 1 (one) report. REGISTRATION for participation in the breakout session is carried out on www.sci-conf.tou.edu.kz website through “Article submission” page.

Following the results of the conference, conference proceedings will be published in an electronic format (PDF), electronic certificates will be issued to the conference participants.

Paper submission deadline: UNTIL APRIL 30, 2025 inclusive ONLY on www.sci-conf.tou.edu.kz website.

Papers sent AFTER THE DEADLINE and sent by E-MAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

- 15:00-16:00 – Plenary session (Toraighyrov University, 64 Lomov Street, main academic building);

- 16:00-18:00 – Sectional meetings (Toraighyrov University, 64 Lomov Street, main academic building).
