The Department of Kazakh Literature of S. Beysembayev Scientific Library of S. Toraighyrov PSU organized the Poetry Queen (Kaz. ‘Поэзия падишасы’) event dedicated to the works by Fariza Ongarsynova, a famous Kazakh poetess, writer, journalist, and prominent public figure.
The purpose of the event was to promote the poetess' heritage among students and introduce them to the treasury of Kazakh poetry, as well as universal human values.
The event was organized by Zhursilya Abildinova, Head of the Library’s Department of Kazakh Literature, and first-year students majoring in Kazakh Philology, Kazakh Language and Literature, and Journalism.
In her works, F. Ongarsynova addressed a variety of problems. She wrote about love, friendship, and the history of her people. Her books are characterized by active civic stance, sharp journalistic view, deep passionate lyrics, vivid pictures, and thoughts about the destiny of modern women. Books in the Kazakh language: The Nightingale, Melody, Restless Time, Proud Generation, Rampant Riverbed, Your Love, Revelation, Daua; selected works were released in 2 volumes in 1987. Collections of poems were translated into Russian: Tenderness, Alarm, Midday Heat, Hound Bird, Insight, Waiting for the Sun, and Diamond Blade.
Bolat Asylkhan, Fariza Saylauova, Kasymkhan Mukhitov, Alina Abisheva and Mereke Amantay recited F. Ongarshynova's poems. Young poetess Mereke Amantay recited I Was not in Love with You (Kaz. ‘Мен саған ғашық емес ем’) with a lot of passion and expression, and deservedly got an ovation from the audience.
The folk poetess died after a long illness on January 23, 2014. But her poetic heritage will live forever in the Kazakh people's memory. Many authors dedicated their works to her: Dauren Zhuniskhan, Yelaman Yermagambet, and Moldir Zhasulan who recited a poem written by her mother.
Music compositions dedicated to Fariza was an important part of the event program. The participants of the event had an opportunity to enjoy the deep sense of her immortal works.
