Demonstration of Ancient Greek Costumes dedicated to the fifteenth anniversary of the Elpida Pavlodar regional ethnocultural association was held in the House of Friendship on March 30, 2014.
The competition was aimed at strengthening and developing the creative abilities of children and young people, motivating them to do independent research, promoting Greek history and culture as an integral part of the culture of the people of Kazakhstan.
Active students from schools, colleges and universities of the city, all young people interested in the history and culture of the peoples of the world took part in the competition. There were many spectacular dancing performances, such as Mia Stigni and Hasapikos, by Anagenissi choreographic ensemble; songs by Micra Asteraki children's ensemble and Orfei vocal group.
Greek art is characterized by awareness of the value and beauty of a human personality, belief in unlimited human creativity, simplicity and clarity of artistic language, and true reflection of reality. These are the main features owing to which ancient art influenced European culture and the world in general. The Greek costume is associated with an aesthetic expression of the social ideal more than costumes of any other nation.
The jury of the contest (L.P. Ifandopulo, Chairman of the Elpida Regional National and Cultural Center Public Association; S.K. Zhetpysbayev, Deputy Chairman, Head of the Regional Secretariat of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan; G.K. Zhapekova, Head of the Department of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan of S. Toraighyrov PSU) judged the participants not only by their clothes, hairstyle, shoes, accessories and jewellery - great importance was given to their noble simplicity, demeanour, harmonious proportions, dynamism and freedom of movement. More than 20 girls took part in the competition. Among the participants of the event were PSU students Nargiz Kuldurova (Culturology) and Elmira Ganiyeva (Foreign Philology).
Nargis Kuldurova was one of the winners of the golden laurel wreath.
