Training Facilities

The Department has well-equipped specialized physics laboratories in all sections of the physics courses. The work is constantly being carried out on renewing and re-equipping the laboratories. In accordance with contemporary requirements, new modern laboratories of physical processes modeling are opened (virtual laboratories). Graduates in this program can carry out the following professional activities: graduates in Physics are prepared to work for companies and associations with the aim of ensuring the productive and technological processes, educational process at educational institutions of general secondary, primary and secondary vocational education, carry out research activities at institutes and laboratories, as well as production management processes in firms and companies as teaches of physics at secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, secondary vocational schools, higher education universities, junior research assistants, senior laboratory assistants, specialists of categories I and II, as well as the highest category, etc.

Scientific Activity of the Department

Besides teaching, members of the Department also conduct research in various fields of physics. Scientific seminars in problems of physics, deformable solid mechanics, condensed-matter physics, continuous media physics, solid-state physics, physical and technical problems, as well as new teaching technologies are held under the supervision of Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences N.A Ispulov.

The Department conducts scientific and methodological seminars. The Department of Physics works in close cooperation with educational institutions of the city and region; it is involved in preparing and conducting academic olympics in Physics. In 2002, the team of physics students took the second place at the National Student Academic Olympics in Physics and the first place in information science in both individual and team competitions; in 2003, the PSU team won the first place at the National Student Academic Olympics in Physics. In 2004, the National Academic Olympics was held in S. Toraighyrov PSU. Students of our faculty also took the first place in the Regional Student Academic Olympics in Physics in 2007.

- Authority of the University and the Department helps to ensure that all graduates are in demand and are employed in their field.

The problems of safety, high quality of products and the tasks connected with the diagnostics of various objects, including people (in other words, obtaining information about these objects) are of great importance now.

One of the ways of solving these problems is development and introduction of instruments and methods of nondestructive testing and diagnostics.

Nowadays, four largest diagnostic areas are being actively developed: medical, technological, forensic and environmental.

♦ The first place in worldwide sales among all areas of nondestructive testing and diagnostics belongs to medical diagnostics.

♦ The methods and means of technological diagnostics that use more than 100 physical control methods are in the second place.

Technical diagnostics is required for solving safety problems of complex technical systems in energy engineering, machine building, as well as defensive, nuclear, biological, chemical, aerospace, oil and gas (processing) and other objects.

♦ Rapidly evolving forensic and military diagnostics. One of the most urgent problems in the world is now detection of weapons, explosives, drugs, radioactive sources, numerous false documents and banknotes, area security, monitoring personnel, etc.

Environmental diagnostics is diagnosis of land cover, aquatic environment, atmosphere, outer space, processes, consequences of accidents, disasters, etc.

Graduates with a degree in Instrumentation carry out their professional activities in the following fields (depending on the specialization):

● physical methods and instruments for control and analysis of substances and products;

● biotechnical and medical devices and systems;

● informational and measuring equipment and technology;

● instruments making, automation systems tools installation and configuration;

● aircraft instruments, measuring and computing systems;

● electronic systems and technologies;

● electronic engineering;

● mechatronics and robotics.

Graduates with a degree in instrumentation can pursue the following activities:

research: studying physical methods for control and analysis of substances and products;

design and engineering: designing devices, systems, complexes, software development and information measuring technologies;

production and technological: organization of the production process of maintenance and operation of instruments and control systems and analysis of substances and products; introduction of modern physical methods and instruments for operational control and analysis of substances in solving analytical problems as well as process control.

With this degree, you will not have any problems with employment!!!

In today's world, it is demanded in almost all spheres where control methods, substance analysis and their implementation are necessary. You can work in industrial enterprises (central laboratories), research institutes, organizations of sanitary and environmental inspection, etc. You can also pursue a teaching career.

The gifted graduates will be able to continue their education entering a Master's degree program or postgraduate school, both in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Authority of the University and the Department helps to ensure that all graduates are in demand and are employed in their field.
