The most beautiful and largest lake in Kyrgyzstan is Issyk-Kul Lake. It is located in the North-Eastern part of the republic between the ridges of the Northern Tien Shan: Kungei Ala-Too (facing the sun) and Terskei Ala-Too (facing away from the sun) at an altitude of 1609 m above sea level. Issyk-Kul is one of the largest mountain lakes in the world.
