The XI Republican subject Olympiad in the specialty “Journalism” took place at S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

50 participants from 17 universities of Kazakhstan came to the Olympiad. Pavlodar journalists assessed the contestants.

Competitions were held in four stages. Participants demonstrated video filming and editing skills. In the three-minute video about Pavlodar, the teams told about the most interesting, in their opinion, places: the embankment, the house-museum of D.P. Bagayev, the museum of literature and art named after Bukhar Zhyrau.

Also, the newcomers “wordsmiths” skillfully coped with an essay out of 10 proposed topics.

In addition, the participating teams met with journalists of Pavlodar in the TedX format, took part in a briefing on current issues in the training of journalists.

The team of Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov became the winners of the subject Olympiad and the cup winners.

The team of M.Kh. Dulati Taraz State University is the winner of the first place.

According to the jury members, the silver medalists were representatives of three teams: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, International University of Information Technologies and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda State University.

The honorable third place was shared by Kostanay State University named after A.Baitursynov, Shakarim University, Karaganda State University of the name of academician E.A. Buketov and Suleyman Demirel University.

“Many thanks to Pavlodar and the university for hospitality. We were very pleased to meet and exchange experiences with colleagues. We are experiencing inexpressible emotions from victory. Now we are waiting for everyone in Atyrau”, - the winners shared.
