The celebration of the day of Greek culture was held in S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.
The event was held within the framework of the World Day of the Greek Language and the 20th anniversary of the regional Greek ethnocultural association “Elpida”.
The chairperson of the association Ludmila Ifandopulo addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. She noted that today people have the opportunity to learn languages, attend various ethnocultural associations and increase their knowledge.
She also told about the work of the association, its formation and major achievements.
“For 20 years of the association, we have a lot of success. Once we dreamed of learning the Greek language, and today we have three teachers who teach new students. We are proud of our creative teams and their victories. Our vocalists take the grand prix at festivals. Cooperation with the Greek diaspora in Tomsk has also been established, and its own branches have appeared in Irtyshsk and Zhelezinka”, L. Ifandopulo shared.
During the meeting, those present were introduced with interesting facts from the history of the Greek language, its features and borrowings.
At the end of the meeting, the activists of the “Musical Hearts” ethnocultural association performed a song as a gift.
“We are pleased that the student assembly and the department of the APK have become the necessary dialogue platform where every ethnocultural association that makes its daily contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the region can talk about its work, share traditions and talk about the culture of its people. I believe that this is an important step towards strengthening inter-ethnic harmony”, said Ramil Smailov, chairman of the coordinative council of the APK youth associations in Pavlodar region.
