72-hour makeathone TOM: Kazakhstan finished at S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

Akim of the Pavlodar region Bulat Bakauov and experts were presented 10 projects, including walking frame, rehabilitation simulators, an auxiliary vision system, a smart belt for the visually impaired, and others designed to improve the comfort of people with impairment of vision, hearing and musculoskeletal system.

Prototypes made by the makers “Kid Robotics” from Almaty University of Energy and Communications the “smart glove”, through which people with hearing impairments can communicate with others,  KazATU, which presented the development of “Modernization of a tricycle for people with cerebral palsy”, as well as the teams from Satbayev University – “Auxiliary vision system” and D. Serikbayev EKSTU “Freedom” with “Both legs prosthesis with a removable foot to replace it with skis or skates” project are among the best following the results of the marathon.

In addition, a special prize from the S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University was received by the team from Al-Farabi KazNU “Techno RIM” – “Helper H (Smart Bracelet)” and Glove C (Smart Gloves) for people with hearing impairments”, which will help to “hear” through the vibration signal of a car or train, solve the problem with telephone and much more.

Also, Tel Aviv University Friends Association in the Republic of Kazakhstan separately mentioned the makers from Almaty Technological University “Robolab” with their prototype “Rehabilitation walking frame TOM KZ 1.0”.

The most successful and viable projects pass to the third stage of the makeathone, which is scheduled on the end of April. So, the teams will be trained in the School of Social Entrepreneurship in Astana, will be able to demonstrate their inventions to potential investors and other interested parties with the view of further commercialization.
