Pavlodar State University conducted a literary evening dedicated to the famous Kazakh writer Sultanmakhmut Toraighyrov.

Within the framework of the republican campaign "One country - one book", held in Kazakhstan on the initiative of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Library Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2017 the works of the famous Kazakh poet, writer Sultanmakhmut Toraighyrov is recognized as the main book of the year for overall reading.

A dazzling meteor, having flashed in the beginning of the twentieth century, Sultanmakhmut Toraighyrov left a truly indelible mark in the Kazakhstani culture. During his short life he created so many significant works and rightly took an honorable place in the history of national culture. He brightly covered the themes of freedom, truth and justice. In his work he urged his native people to enlightenment, he was looking for ways of transformation, renewal of life. His works are included in the treasury of Kazakh literature.

The event attracted not indifferent people to the literature and creativity of the famous writer. Students with great desire shared their favorite lines from his works, exchanged impressions of what he had read.

Madina Tuleubekova read the work "Zhas zhurek", and Ulzhan Sabirkhan chose for performance the poem "Okyp zhurgen zhastarga".

The librarian of the sector of Kazakh literature Zhursilyal Abildinova held a presentation of electronic books, gave a bibliographic review of the literature, and also presented a book exhibition.

The participants of the evening noted that the choice of Toraighyrov's works as the main book of this year for us is also special day, because Pavlodar State University is named after this outstanding poet, public figure Sultanmakhmut Toraighyrov for a reason.
