A dialogue platform on Religious Radicalism: Its Origins, Ideological Content and Counteracting Methods was held under the Bilim+ project in the Academic Council Sessions Hall of S. Toraighyrov PSU on March 31, 2014.

The purpose of the dialogue platform is to expose the ideological content of religious radicalism and its socio-political doctrine, define the methods for counteracting its destructive influence.

The event was organized by the Department of Sociology and Political Science, the Faculty of History and Law of S.Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University.

Moderators of the dialogue platform: D.K. Sulekeyev, senior lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Political Science of S. Toraighyrov PSU, and Darkhan Omarov, a 2nd year student in Political Science of the Faculty of History and Law majoring.

The following speakers presented their reports: Zh.Sh. Slyamov, Head of the Division for Fighting Extremism of the Department of Internal Affairs of Pavlodar Region; S.K. Kulzhibayev, chief specialist of the Department of Analysis and Monitoring of the Social Situation of Irtysh Media Holding; G.Zh. Yelmuratov, Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology and Political Science of S. Toraighyrov PSU; Ye.B. Akhmetov, senior lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Political Science of S. Toraighyrov PSU; Sait Yerzhanov, a 2nd year student in Political Science of the Faculty of History and Law.

The event was also attended by Deputy Deans for General Affairs and members of the teaching staff.

Zh.Sh. Slyamov, Head of the Division for Fighting Extremism of the Department of Internal Affairs of Pavlodar Region, told students about the basic legal norms and effective methods for counteracting promotion of religious radicalism among young people. Zh.S. Slyamov answered all questions asked by the participants of the discussion.

S.K. Kulzhibayev told about the ideology of extremist organizations, their negative impact on human psychology and the potential threat they pose to the national security. T.Yu. Bil, senior lecturer of the Department of Philosophy and Culturology, thanked Zh.Sh. Slyamov for a meaningful dialogue and the practical recommendations on counteracting destructive ideology and all other participants of the event for a meaningful and useful discussion.
