Professor of Toraighyrov University Alexander Belyi spoke as a lecturer at trainings for deputies of the maslikhats of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent.

 

The event was organized within the framework of the program of interaction of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan with maslikhats, approved in 2024. The organizers were the Institute of Parliamentarism under the  President's Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Parliamentarism Development Fund and the Association of Maslikhat Deputies with the support of the OSCE Program Office.

As part of the training, a guest lecturer, Professor of Toraighyrov University Alexander Belyi, spoke with a report on “Energy Efficiency and Green Construction in Urban Economy”. He presented  the key aspects of energy saving and energy efficiency, supported by the results of pilot demonstration projects in the building sector to the deputies.  These projects were implemented with his participation as an international consultant and supported by international donors. The report also touched upon the issues of "green" urban development.

It is worth noting that under the leadership of the head of the Department of Geography and Tourism of ToU Dinara Yessimova, the author's special course of Professor Alexander Belyi "Problems of Achieving Carbon Neutrality in Territorial Development" for master's degree students in geography was introduced last academic year. The goal of the course is to study the theoretical and practical foundations of decarbonization and the transition to carbon neutrality in the process of planning and implementing territorial development.
