A two-day dialogue meeting with university students on the topic “Youth and Elections” was held at Toraighyrov University.
The rector of the university delivered a welcoming speech, noting that young people are the most active part not only of the university, but of society as a whole. Elections for them, as for all citizens, are a manifestation of citizenship and a political opportunity.
The dispute-forum was held at the Center for Social and Political Research. The meeting was moderated by the candidate of political sciences, professor Ildar Kaliev.
Boris Polamarchuk, Master of Social Sciences, Dauren Gaziz, Master student, and Arman Akishev, Head of the
APK department were the speakers at the meeting. They had an open dialogue with students, answering questions about the upcoming elections. For example, Boris Polamarchuk compiled a list of frequently asked questions by students regarding the election campaign and gave answers to them.
Dauren Gaziz spoke about the role of elections as the main element of democracy.
Afterwards, students actively asked questions: is it possible to vote in another city or is it possible to help a visually impaired person vote, is it possible to vote by electronic means, etc.
There was also a discussion in the student houses of the university.
- The discussion showed that our youth is aware of the importance of their participation in the elections. Young people understand that elections are, first of all, competition, which sooner or later will give its positive results in the development of Kazakhstan. They see the elections as an opportunity to change life in the country for the better,” ToU rector Yerkin Sadykov said.
